Accountability has been described as the glue that ties commitment to the result. However you may define it, it can be the special sauce to your professional growth and can drive amazing results. It’s one of the most important aspects of the Facilis360 Program in which sales reps consistently achieve higher growth than prior to entering the program. In addition to learning the importance of accountability, as well as developing strategies to maximize growth, the reps who graduate from the Facilis360 program stay in touch. They lean on each other, share their struggles and their triumphs, and continue to hold each other accountable for growth.
Incorporating accountability into your professional growth strategy is simple. The first step is to identify an individual with whom you share a mutual trust and respect. Trust because you can count on them to call you out if you aren’t hitting your goals. Respect because you care what this person thinks; someone you would not want to let down. Accountability sessions can take shape as a call to simply check-in, or as an in-person meeting to revisit and revise your goals.
The other benefit of accountability is that by surrounding yourself with people who also want you to achieve you’ll be more likely to meet your goals.
It’s important to note that while the premise of accountability is simple, it’s not easy. Accountability requires mindfulness, acceptance, honesty and courage. But it is powerful, as accountability separates the wannabes from the rock stars that care enough about their future to account for their daily actions.
